Julie A. D'Arcy lovingly and evocatively describes the pain and heartache that hiding secrets from loved ones does to a person. Garrik longs to share his soul with Meggahn, but fears her rejection and confusion if she learns the truth. Will he lose Meggahn or take a chance before it is too late?

The Dragon and the Rose deftly and poignantly weaves romance, ardor, treachery, and anguish into a saga of soul mates separated by a painful secret. Meggahn refuses to forgive Garrik for his secrets. Will she forfeit love for bitterness or will she give Garrik a second chance? Julie A. D'Arcy captivated me from the first page. I hope that she does not wait to long before releasing another book in the Talisian Saga.

Garrik jerked forward grasping her shoulders, pushing her to arm's length. “What are you doing?”

“Why?”  Her breath fanned his face. “I am looking at your chest.” She ran her hands up over his flat stomach to rest where the dragon scales had once flourished. “Mmm. So smooth.”

He could feel his control slipping away as the heat of her small buttocks seeped through his leggings. “It is not that I do not like it, but are you sure this is what you want?”

Her lips a hot breath on his, and her soft breasts brushing his bare chest was his answer. Whether it was the Elven beverage making Meggahn react strangely, or that this was the real Meggahn, Garrik was beyond caring. Her gown, already hiked up at both sides of her hips was no barrier. She wore no undergarment except for a small piece of silk, fastened on each side. The knot was no hindrance to his deft fingers. He removed the cloth and skimmed his fingers through the soft red-gold curls between her thighs, feeling himself grow hard. A moment later he was cupping her small breasts in his hands. She leaned backward allowing him better access, but for Garrik this was not enough. “I would see all of you,” he breathed, looking into her wide green eyes.

She nodded and whisked her silken shift over her head.

This time he didn’t stay her, and for several long breaths, he allowed himself the sight and the touch of her rose tipped breasts, then he rolled her beneath him to reclaim her lips in a hard kiss. She matched him, her tongue seeking and finding access to his mouth – moist, firm, demanding.

Garrik groaned. He was burning up. He had waited so long to hold this woman against his body. To hold her as a real man – not a man with the instincts of a beast.

He set her aside and came from the bed to strip off his leggings. He was worried that Meggahn had not spoken for some time, that she had become uncommonly docile. He wondered if now that their time had come if she was feeling shy. Yet again, she had been anything but shy earlier. He shrugged and pushed the thought from his mind with a promise that he would be gentle.

However as his gaze flickered across the room to the looking glass above the dresser, to the shadowy figure in the candlelight, he looked more beast than a man as he hovered, naked, over her, his black hair a tangle, his golden eyes dark and glittering. Panic clawed at his gut and an anguished cry escaped his lips. He turned to leave, but Meggahn's hand snaked out to grasp his wrist and draw him back to the bed.

“Come,” she said, her tone soft and persuasive, and he did as she bid, for how could he leave her when she was offering everything he had ever dreamed of in a woman, and more?  ..............
